"Substance is the industry standard" I hear you say. In another senario, not allowing their users to opt-out of subscription and buy a perpetual license when they tallied a certain amount on their account, but I digress. And in this instance raising the price for the "basic" package.
Packaging and locking them behind subscription models that are down right predatory. We've seen and heard time and again the negative ramification of the "Adobification" of softwares.
The complete absorption of the Substance brand in Adobe is simply a spit in the face to their legacy users and those who despise Adobe for their customer-unfriendly practices. Since then, I've been happily paying my monthly, but today's announcement changed it. I actually saw that as a good thing, more money and more man-power to develop a greater and better tool to compete against Quixel.
A couple of years back when Substance was bought by Adobe, I thought nothing of it. I was impressed by the capabilities of the software back in the day and still am to this day. I've been an avid Substance user for almost 5 years now.
